No criminality is suspected after a man was fatally struck by a train near the Fairfield Metro-North station.
MTA Police detectives are investigating the fatal struck, which took place at approximately 5:15 a.m., a Metro-North spokesperson said, when the 4:37 a.m. train from New Haven, due into Grand Central at 6:34 a.m., fatally struck an unauthorized male west of the station, near Grasmere Avenue in Fairfield.
The fatal strike led to lengthy delays on the New Haven line. Officials said that the incident does not appear to be an accident, and no criminal activity is suspected, though the investigation is ongoing. The man’s identity has not been released.
